Marigolds?
« on: January 14, 2007, 13:19 »
I've read that if you grow Marigolds in and around your veg, then it helps to keep Aphids away - is this true?

Are there any other plants that I could grow to keep things away?

Cheers

They also attract slugs when young so grow in pots until strong or be peparedto protect them,Last year I went out with a tourch and the marigolds would be covered in slugs but the lettuce seedlings  in the same bed untouched.

Hallo and welcome from me too.

poached egg plant (limnanthes douglasii) is supposed to be good around gooseberry bushes for deterring gooseberry sawfly thingys, also good for attracting hoverflies (these are beneficial insects) anywhere around the plot.  self seeds readily, so you should only ever need to buy one packet of seed.
Gardening organically on chalky, stony soil.
