The RHS recommend 'Simple Layering' for climbers
Particularly Lonicera

It does occur naturally, check out low lying growth, often you can find runners as with Stawbs, secure into the ground with a bent wire and then pot on when fully rooted. Young plants aren't hardy

Do do simple layering:-
Select young low lying shoots
Trim off leaves to provide a clear lenth of stem
Make an angled cut on the underside to create a tongue
use hormone powder on the cut
Sucure into the ground with a peg, cover with earth
In the autumn, when its taken, pot on.

Or take semi-ripe cuttings, 6 inch lenghts from new wood, cut just below a node, pot on into gritty compost.
Or a heel cutting

Try both methods?

Good luck
Alex

ps our fav is 'Serotina'

Cheers Alex. We have quite a few different honeysuckles but havent got a clue as to any of their names.
I think honey suckle is  much underestimated in some quarters. Roses and clematis seem to get all the headlines, but give me honeysuckle anytime.

I've rooted these and they took really well.  I wish I'd taken some from my last house though as they smelled sweeter than any I've smelled since  :(   I have various ones now but none as lovely as that. I could perhaps sneak back and nick some     My hens have unearthed the roots on mine, together with jasmine, clematis and a rose    The clem looks extremely poorly but the honeysuckle seems unaffected

I like honeysuckle and it provides good support for clems :D

I didn't really know what I was doing so just took cuttings, stripped the bottom leaves and stuck them in some moist compost and put the whole lot in a clear plastic bag to act as a propogator.

It's worked for me cos they're coming on a treat, but I don't know when I can plant them out...  any ideas?

Gardeners World on Friday night had Carol Klein doing a section on taking cuttings, you should be able to download it on iplayer.  :D

You are keeping an *nally tidy garden if they did not root themselves about, same as with your gooseberries, where ever they touched the bluudy ground, you gotta weed them.

I've always been a bit disappointed with honeysuckle, it always goes mildewy in mid-late summer and looks a mess from the bottom up once it's established.

What am I doing wrong?
