At Last, lots of rain
« on: July 13, 2010, 16:42 »
I know we British always moan about the weather, too hot, too cold, too wet, too dry, but at last, it has started with some real rain, a downpour for the last 2 hours in North Oxfordshire. I can almost hear the veggies sighing with relief!!!!
And it saves me watering tonight.   :D
I suppose my only moan now is that i cant use the weedkiller to rid me of those pesky weeds. oh well cant have it all ways i guess.

We had two days of rain recently - but when I was weeding in the garden today the soil was still very dry. I think that the problem was that the rain was so hard that it did not soak into the soil.

And all the slugs and snails wandering around! :(

But everything does look greener and happier!
Very often quite lost- would be more lost if I could work out where I was!- But always find my way home.....

I think I can hear my veggies shouting with glee!  We've had drizzle on and off all day.  And more forecast for the next 3 days and a dry weekend.

I'll get my leeks dibbed out after all - only managed 50 or so last weekend.  Soil just toooooo dry.

 :D
Lotty holder since Aug 09... I've FINALLY finished clearing it! On with the p.lanting  ....

Anyone feel a Smith Period coming on?

Conditions here were suitable yesterday, with that damp drizzle, well over 11 hrs of 90%  plus humidity and it's back up to it again with the present rain . Temp's not dropped below 10 C.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Lots of lovely rain on the east Co Down coast - should be able to weed again!! Soil has been so hard recently that weeding almost impossible.
