Hi to all, as you can this is my first post, though I have visited the site many times prior to getting my hens, the site is great and full of brilliant info.
Any way to my main point I have 4 buff orpingtons which are appx 20 wks old, I am currently feeding them growers pellets with a helping of maggots left over from fishing as a treat   ,  mixed corn treats ,they also roam in my garden and eat everything green there is.
I know they are a bit young for any eggs yet and the weather wont help that,which I dont mind, but my main question is when do I stop the growers pellets and change to layers pellets, do I have to wait for my first eggs .

wait till they over winter  they wont hurt .they will lay eggs when they want to regardless of what they are eating , n they is luvverly aint they

I'm gonna guess they'll start laying in January,  you can swap them on to layers pellets at any time.  When you need to buy a fresh supply would be a good time
