Title: Frustration of sprayers that dont !
Post by: Kleftiwallah on October 05, 2023, 18:14
Good evening gardeners,
just spraying my strawberry plants and getting frustrated trying to get a decent continuous spray...if you try and enlarge the orofice/orifice, there is no way back >:(

Cheers,  Tony.

I feel your frustration
I've bought two hand sprayers (misters) to use in the greenhouse - they've both proved unreliable / broken. Not impressed!

Have you tried the Hozelock hand-sprayers - or are these the ones you're having grief with?

No Yorkie this isn't broken and I've stripped and reassembled, finely filtered the Neem oil 7 Lux flake mix but still after about three plants the spray goes over to one side.  It's a "Roundup" pump action sprayer ((big green job) discarded by the Memsahib.

Hello Growster, I'm not going to purchase a Hoselok sprayer just on the off chance !  I have about a dozen hand sprayers ex domestic chemicals care of the aforementioned.

Cheers,  Tony.

I find them reliable, Mr G.

Same here, Aunty!

I've had a Hozelock Killaspray since 1986, (won it in the village fete raffle here, well, I actually won a wheelbarrow but swapped it at the shop on The Moor as Peter had only just sold me a barrow a week before! And he made me pay the difference)! The nozzle does need fine tuning, and if the smallest bit of grit gets in the end, it needs a clean out!

I only use it for weedkillers now, so there's no conflict, but for the GH, these little hand-sprayers are ideal for the job, and also for the fruit trees etc.! They only cost a few quid, and are much better than Windowlene or similar sprayers!

I have a 3L hozelock pump sprayer, which I had to replace the nozzle mechanism for, but is otherwise pretty reliable.

The small hand sprayers have been hozelock and a cheaper brand - neither lasted in the greenhouse.

They don't like the heat do they!

Like all plastic kit, they deteriorate in bright sunlight and of course the hotness!

That might be a relevant point, thanks!
