Butternut squash
« on: November 13, 2011, 18:31 »
Hi everyone, hope you have all had a good growing season.  Can anyone tell me please if it's okay to eat really small butternut squashes, mine have been growing in the polytunnel
since Spring but the flowers kept falling off even though there were pollinating insects around and I monitored the watering and feed.  The squashes are only about 4 inches long but a lovely colour and healthy looking. They were grown from saved seed from a supermarket bought squash...

If they've turned colour then they're ripe, no matter how big they are, so eat and enjoy  ;)
