Talking chicken
« on: December 13, 2012, 16:43 »
Does anyone else talk chicken?! I've started to pick up the various clucks, puck pucks and pargs that my girls make - and so has the OH - to the extent we talk to each other in chicken! We realised how embarrassing this was though when we away on holiday with the OH's family recently and we had a few funny looks until we realised what we were doing. Now it is strictly confined to the privacy of the marital home (and chicken run of course...)
Parg....

I don't talk chicken to my hens but can't resist making my turkey poult do a Gobble, Gobble by making a similar sound.  It makes me laugh every time and I'm not bothered if the neighbours hear me!!

I've given up worrying what the neighbours think of my chats with the girls, I love how they respond. ;) I can have whole conversations

I've always wondered what the various sounds they make mean...mine sort of purr sometimes, squawk, coo or do a grumpy sound - but I wonder what they really mean?   Has anyone ever studied this?

I chat constantly to them (in english and i practice my italian on them)!

When you first get there they just seem to want to tell you all their news and problems!! they cluck cluck cluck at you - until you feed them canary seed - then they shut up and hunt for it!!

Everyone knows when I'm down with them! They hear me chatting away willy-nilly! I don't care. They're such endearing creatures! :)

I am kind of!! Because I'm a nurse, it's now assumed by my 'chicken chums' that qualifies me to be a 'chicken vet'!
