Who's got green fingers then?
« on: March 22, 2010, 22:10 »
Just checked the seed trays on my huge window sill. Last week I drew the curtains shut and stuffed them behind the radiator. The lining is white and did a good job reflecting the light last year. Didn't look at them for a week.
EVERYTHING has come up!! 8) :D
Leeks, 4 types of tom (the ones the cat originally knocked off have survived) courgette and butternut.
Now I've got the problem of finding space when I pot on!
Strange though...last year I used half of the 12 butternut seeds and 2 came up. This year I planted the other 6 and 5 are up!!! I know it's early but I really didn't think they'd germinate and last year I left it a bit late and didn't get them outside until August and only got a couple of small squash.
My garden is very sheltered so I hope I can get everything out in April this year leaving space to start off some beans, psb, cabbage and kale.
The rosy glow I felt when that curtain was drawn back..... difficult to explain to non-gardeners why you're cavorting about like a mad woman!

Think that it's always when I'm at my most cavalier (i.e. plant in the wrong medium/  forget to check seedlings/ don't put foil behind/ knock off the windowsill accidently & sort of shove carelessly back in the pot / go on holiday for a fortnight so everything dries out / leave out in the snow / pot on too early/ pot up into pots that don't have any drainage holes / prune at the wrong time of year) that things go well.

Well done , it does give you a great sense of satisfaction doesn't it. Gl for all your plans this year, and enjoy the fruit of your labour.
