Get a decent high intensity candler - it makes all the difference to your confidence.

I got mine of eBay here

I found after a bit I was starting to trust my judgement but when you're new to it it's much better if you can see as much as possible.  I daresay there are cheaper alternatives but I have Marans eggs next and some are really dark so I reckon with all the time money and effort that goes into it, £23 is not too bad.

yeah my ducklings last time took 28 days to the day, think one of them hatched the day after. nail biting times. :)

12 out of 12 - yippee  :D

1 with a gammy leg and the 2 lavender araucana's are very small but then the eggs were very small for LF especially alongside the Marans eggs which are huge.

Got a little 'sick bay' for the 3.  Think I'm going to tape the legs of 'gammy'. otherwise he/she won't stand a chance. :(
