this has probably been covered before, i know there's the seed potato poll but i'm looking for some pretty specific views.
i'm looking for a main crop that stores the best ideally with good scab resistance too. i don't think there is such a thing but on that is resistant to wireworm would also be good.
thanks for any views.

My mainstay has always been Desiree. Not very atractive to wireworm, slugs or blight. Boils and makes gorgeous mash and stores well. As a bonus I get a good yield from it as well.

Hi all.
Desiree is the one for me also, always does well on my heavy clay soil.
No pest damage or scab . Still got a cwt in store some are just starting to chit , so will eat those as soon
as possible.

thanks for the replys.
think thats what i had last year, been a busy year and have now forgotten what i put in. doh
i think our wireworm are just adamant on causing damage no matter what, they are getting less i think, but still very alloying little critters.
my stored potato's have started chitting a few weeks ago. but they are stored in a usually cold shed, but this year due to the very mild winter the temperature prob hasn't helped them store.

If the potatoes in store are still firm just cut the chits out when peeling.
You will not tell the difference.

agreed, to be honest they've done well to store this far really. and at the end of the day they're as good as free so a little waste is no biggy.
i was just wondering if there was a new all singing all dancing variety out their i hadn't heard about.
