New to greenhouse as only got allotment last July. But, I want to grow melons aswell as peppers etc. Read somewhere either containers or compost heap are good. Hence dug a deep hole and filled it with manure topped by soil. Can put containers on top of soil but can't plant into concrete is my working theory.

melons can either be strung up with support for the melon, or grown along the ground like a squash. Great if growing tomatoes above.
Peppers in pots if they do not ripen quick enough as can be brought home, great for us northerners.
