Moving plum trees
« on: September 08, 2012, 22:26 »
I want to move a plum tree. It's well established in its spot but I really need to move it. I've seen loads of you-tube clips and articles about planting saplings but nothing about moving 9ft beasts. Any ideas please.
My wife made all the pies, then I ate them!!!

I would wait until it's dormant - back end of the year.

You need to aim to take as much rootball as possible.  Dig out the new hole, prepare it with fertiliser etc.  Then dig up the tree and transplant asap.

Make sure you water it thoroughly for at least the first year.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
