Apple problem
« on: July 28, 2013, 21:08 »
Hello,

My parents have an apple tree and this is the first year it has fruited.

There are some small brown patches on most of the fruit, does anyone know what the cause could be and how to treat it? The variety is royal gala.

Many thanks

DD will know, but it looks like scab, to me.  You can spray for it and it won't hurt the other apples.
Look up scab on Google.

Yes by the leaves look like they need to be sprayed with disease control spray. I would cut off apples and spray leaves and let apple tree fight it and then spray next spring and then should be all well!
Kind Regards
Bill

I agree with Wil, remove all the damaged apples and spray.  You will get a reduced crop this year.
