Hello all!
My girls arrive tomorrow and I'm suddenly panicking that I don't have all the necessities!!! There are sooo many products that I seem do be getting deeper and deeper into panic mode. I have bedding, DE, disinfectant, mite spray, treats and boredom busters. I'm worried that I don't have something really important. If there's something missing that's glaringly obvious please let me know. Thank you lovely people :D

How are your chickens settling in? Hope you are enjoying them.

Helooo :)
Thank you for asking.
Well they are very skittish and terrified of their own shadows (understandable considering they're only young and in a strange place) but tonight I had to encourage them into the coop at bed time and they seemed to accept my being in their run a little more than last night. I'm speaking calmly and moving slowly so I'm hoping eventually they'll realise I'm their friend :) I think a cat came into the garden earlier this evening as they went off like sirens!

can you put pics up of your run set up, or describe it well.
put a chair in the run and sit with them, scatter some mixed corn, if you have it, and sit and watch what they do.
what breed did you get and how old.
try to get some grit and oyster shell, pets shops sell it, I always used chick size. I had mine in a flowerpot with a tent hook through the bottom, when converted to concrete I had little hanging pots.

A good move is to have an outside perch at waist height where the hens can line up to be fed treats , they can then be picked up and checked easily without comedy chases !
Even if you do ruffle a few feathers checking them over their love of the treats will have them lining up next time to do it all again ! :)
