I have never pruned Wisteria, but if I am right Mr Titchmarsh recomended that it is pruned twice a year??????

It was a while ago. on GW.

I was all for Wisteria untill I heard that, then I was thinking thats too much work for me. :tongue2:
I may take my time.....but i'll get there in the end.

Yes it's a "2 and 6 plant",  to make it flower cut back the side shoots to 2 buds in Feb and again to 6 buds in June .

He who asks is a fool for five minutes, but he who does not ask remains a fool forever.

If they are seed grown plants they wont flower for at least 7 years. For quick flowering you need grafted plants.

Hope they are grafted - can you see at the base?  If not, you could have a along wait, and no guarantee they'll flower at all I'm afraid.

I'm a bit hit and miss with pruning.  Mid summer I cut back all the long whippy bits to about a third to half length, then in the winter, a bit later than now, take further back to about 3 inch or a couple of buds length.

Same as purning for fruit, you are aiming to create flowering spurs.

Take care not to take out the leader though, until it's got to the size you want it to be.

Ditto re winter flowering?  All the wisteria I know are spring/early summer.
