Nudging around 29c.  Very hot when we were trying to learn Line Dancing on Friday.  (two left feet - no c-ordination that's me!)  No sign of any rain just yet.  Hope not, painting the railway sleepers with preservative tomorrow.

I thought there would be a few posts from our more southern and easterly members boasting about all the lovely rain they'd had today...

Not a drop here today, although we did get all of 0.6mm yesterday so mustn't be greedy!  :tongue2:  ;)

   I've just come here to do it  :nowink:

The rain overnight didn't appear, but we did get 10.3mm (Wow so much!  ::)) around midday and it has just started drizzling again. Storms are possible tomorrow and Sunday, I'll believe it when I see it!

I've had 3 maybe 4 drops and they all fell on the wheelie bin and quickly disappeared. Im leaving some washing out on the line all night just to encourage a downpour.

Same Lardman, a couple of drops to raise hopes and then nothing. Had to water the plot again tonight.
Temperatures seem to be plummeting tonight though compared to recently.

3 plans of action spring to mind:

1) Find out whether there are any reasonably priced properties near to Lardman who obviously lives in an especially moist area of the country.

2) Cross MoS off my winter solstice card list.  ;)

3) Gurgle how to grow edible cacti.

It's been quite nice here for the last couple of days. There's enough water in the ground so the grass is growing which means the mower has to venture out :( but the sheep are happy as they've lots of grass to eat. :)
Bit nippy tonight and cooler tomorrow apparently but it's more like normal which is reassuring.
My long range prediction is for a cold winter as the hawthorns and rowans are loaded with berries.

Funny you should say that JayG, I was reading up about growing prickly pears at the weekend! No rain since long before the solstice, but lovely and fresh the last couple of days.

Mainly grey skies, with the odd patch of blue now and again - a chilly feeling 16C now, but it slipped to just under 10C just before dawn  That really did feel cold as the bathroom window was still open wide  ::)

Yesterday morning I saw a very promising band of rain heading towards Sheffield on the rain radar, so decided to get smart and go and cut one side of my 100' garden's hedge before it started.

Finished just as it just started spitting, sat down indoors to enjoy watching the rain. Didn't take long - 15 minutes of light rain (1.6mm in total.)  :(

None since, but more forecast this evening, when I'm going to a friend's barbecue in nearby Matlock!
