Pine needles
« on: May 25, 2007, 23:44 »
I read a post that wanted a use for pine needles, but I just could not find it again,so I am posting my answer here in the hope that the postie will find it.............Pine needles are a perfect mulch for strawberrys. Spread them around nice and thick. They will protect them from getting dirty, keep the soil moist, and best of all SLUGS and SNAILS cannot stand them............Spead the word and then you can bag your pine needles and pass them on to other lucky strawberry growers.

Very acidic.  Try not to dig them in.  Even the leachate after winter rains would be acidic IMHO.
