Happy Hedgepigs
« on: August 13, 2014, 05:22 »
We moved last year, and where we are people are very nice, but quite private- which is fine by us.

We have had Hedge pigs (hedeghogs) visiting the garden, which we love, as they are so good on the slug and snail front, and they have been having to squeeze through quite a small gap between next door and us (fence owned by next door)

We were so pleased when next door announced the fence was begin replaced (phew it was falling down) and was it OK if they left a hedgepig gap for Henry and Harriet- the look of joy on their faces when we said we would have been gutted if they didn't was priceless.

New fence done, and happy hedgepigs have been back!- they now have a bigger gap to make it easier for them!

Nothing beats the site of them wandering around as it goes dark!

Just wish I could train them not to poop on the lawn, as our youngest dog think hedegpig poop is a brilliant treat!

Very often quite lost- would be more lost if I could work out where I was!- But always find my way home.....

I saw some video once where an urchin climbed to the top of a  fence panel and fell to the ground the other side , the spines making good shock absorbers.

Not sure if the motivation was hunger or lust but they are determined little beggars when the mood takes them ! :)

We had hedgehogs calle Horace and Hilder as children - they lived in the back of an old rabbit hutch - had 7 babies - In the end Grahame Dangerfield took them from us and put them in his private zoo
