Title: Greenhouse or polytunnel
Post by: LeeFrost on June 12, 2013, 22:45
Hi all,

I've had my new allotment for about 2 weeks now and just managed to strim all the weeds. I have a small space for either a greenhouse or polytunnel and I was wondering if anyone could give me a few pros and cons for either so I could maybe make a bit more of an informed decision.

Thanks in advance.

Lee

It is down to budget, preference and availability.

There are pros and cons to both, it is a 50/50 split at my allotments as to what is best, I personally am building a medium poly on my plot later in the year (my main reasons being I have two young children and it will be very close to the herb garden play area) but I do have the use of a greenhouse as well (not on my plot, it is a half share in a 20x8).

You can get greenhouses cheap on evilbay etc.... and if looked after can last a lifetime

As previous post 50/50 split at my site also, if its a larger structure I would go poly tunnel, if smaller go for grow house / green house.  I am in a similar place with the final section of my allotment which needs clearing edging etc.  green house or poly, .......... Polly me thinks

Thanks for the advice. Think I'll take a closer look at some poly tunnels if only for the price.
