Title: Drying blackberries???
Post by: Janeymiddlewife on August 19, 2009, 17:27
I know you can get freeze dried raspberries, but as I don't have any dry ice with whoch to blast them, has anyone ever successfully dried blackberries, and if so, how please?

At the Garlic Festival at the weekend Paul bought some 'air dried' strawberries.  They taste like strawberry jelly cubes (ie straight from the packet).  The bloke who sold them to us also said to soak them overnight in either vodka or white wine and they will swell up and absorb the liquid.  We put two last night into a glass of wine and into the fridge. (Iwasn't going to waste any vodka if it didn't work!) :D Will let you know how they taste later.

I have a dehydrator and have tried to dry blackberries with little success they end up looking like rabbit droppings, yet raspberries dry very easily and hold their shape.
