Ok folks, I'm mixing all my seed compost for the next few weeks sowing plan . Here are my ingredients and fertiliser for it (if you are ORGANIC " you may not want use this!)
Its basically the same as the john innes one
Here we go
I use a wheelbarrow for this, but you use what you like and just adjust the measurements to suit youself
*2 barrows good soil( loam)
*1 of peat or coir
* A barrow of sharp builders sand
* 1lb 1/2 of fine ground hoof n horn
* 3/4 lb of lime
If you want to use a john innes base mix for toms and such make it in 1lbs as I do .
2 hoof n horn
2 superphosphate of lime ( phosphoric acid )
1 sulphate of potash
you can then add this to composts for pots etc
the compost mixes are as follows
no 1 j innes is
7 loam
3 peat
2 sand
number 2
for toms
as above with 1lb lime thrown in
no 3 for peppers for toms in pots
same as above just double the lime
-
Try also adding a little neem powder

I have a load of leaf mould well composted,soil,10 grow bags,sharp sand,home made compost and a mixer

so one part grow bag and one part leaf mould = 1 part of peat :?
-

now what about fish blood n bone instead of hoof n horn.(ive got 6 boxes of the stuff)
-
