Unsure what's wrong with Speckeldy
« on: June 26, 2010, 12:51 »
One of my Speckeldy's has been doing water poo's for a couple of weeks. At first I thought it was worms so I used Flubenvet for a week during which she stopped laying. It's now been 5 days since she laid and I'm getting quite worried. Her comb is reddish and she appears to be eating although she does seem thinner than my other two.

Does anyone have any ideas or should I just take her to the vets?

Regards
Marc

Could be the fluctuating weather?  Especially the hot spells we've been having.  they do drink more hence more watery poos, and mine are not laying as much.  I try not to panic too quickly these days, but just kep an eye on here if she seems fine in other ways.

I have the same problem and also would like to hear what to do. I was given four game chicks, about a month old that stank to high heaven. One died the first night, and of the other three two still have dirty bottoms a month on. The vent itself looks clear but the feathers around it are always wet, although the horrible smell has gone.
The birds, apart from this, seem perfectly healthy. they had few feathers at first but have grown them well over all the bald patches, and their behaviour, apart from the littlest one, is normal. Littlest one does a little squawking when it tries to poo and often does nothing. There is no blood or signs of worm in the faeces, which is mostly normal.
hopeing for suggestions.

I've done a load of research and was wondering if this could be Coccidiosis.

She is geeting lathargic, laying down a lot, and I'm sure it's not just the hot weather.

This morning her comb looked a little duller, and I've noticed over the past few days that she will drink rather than eat - That could be the weather.
