I seem to be using rather a lot - and at 87pence each thought Id grow some.Having missed the seed sowing window I've been looking for plants.

The local GC has some F1 bellboy for 2.95 but they look sickly (Id be ashamed to give them away) B&Q have "grafted" varieties which looked a lot healthier including Californian Wonder for £4.

Anyone recommend grafted / non - grafted whats the yield likely to be ? I really wouldn't want to waste the space/money for just 3 peppers !

Couldn't you talk the GC into a (rather large) price drop if they look a bit dodgy?
Shame you aren't nearer me, I've done far too many but I'm sure I'll find good homes for my spares.

I found Brookside Nursery on the internet still selling 5 plug plants of variety Bell Boy for £5.98 inc delivery. That's just under £1.20 per plant and you should get between 3 and 6 peppers per plant (?)  Might be worth a try...?

Grafted sweet peppers? I've never heard of that so not surprising the cost. 3 pounds a plant sounds very pricey. I don't even pay that much for started orange peppers which are sold to dealers for $1 per seed. I'm not even sure we have hybrid peppers over here as the 'old standards' are still readily available - Cal Wonder, Big Bertha, Blocky and others.

Same here, I've done quite a few.

I agree with Trillium, never heard of grafting of peppers :blink:.  You just grow them from seed
