Post by: prideparkpaddy on July 09, 2011, 20:25
Hi one of my hens had stared to lay soft shell eggs and I have noticed she is starting to lose a lot of feathers can anyone help with any reasons for this? I leave oyster shell and grit down but it doesnt seem to be working

One of my hens has just started laying soft-shelled eggs in the last couple of days too.  She looked quite unwell yesterday, but has been perkier today and came running up the garden to the gate.

I don't know what could be wrong, but I'm keeping an eye on her.  There's nothing visibly wrong with her apart from a slightly dirty vent.

How is yours looking apart from the feather loss?  Is her behaviour still normal?
