just been looking on ebay and i put in hatching eggs just for fun and WOW

page after page of them i was tempted to have a bid but didnt

has any one had eggs from ebay if so how did you do

i noted that there was some duck eggs of a breed i want  :cry:

I know lots of people who've had eggs from e-bay and have been quite sucessful with them. Check out feedback before you bid from anyone.....if they've had no bad feedback and have been selling eggs for a long time then I would go for it

be very wary, its not unknown for breeders to candle at day 7, and sell the duds on ebay.

tho i used 6 ebay japanese frizzle eggs under a broody last year, 5 out of 6 hatched.

same seller with cochins, 0 fertile.

but i guess its like any egg.. all down to luck

yeah i bet there are some scum bags on there that sell dud eggs  :evil:

Gob smackingly expensive in the main. I paid £1.50p for 18 large pure bred Light Sussex eggs yesterday, I'd hate to think what they would have asked on E bay. :shock:

I have bought ebay eggs with mixed results.  My last lot 4/6 were fertile so very good for this time of year.

My advice would be to read feedback as far back as you can some buyers (including me) always leave follow up feedback referring to the fertility of the eggs, not the hatch rate which can be quite different depending on how you hatch them.  If possible get local eggs which you can ask if they will let you collect them.  This is the best option for me, it means I sometimes get to see the parent birds and the eggs don't have to go through the postal system and you don't have the extra expense.  

One more thing there are sellers on ebay that buy from auction large quantities of eggs then sell them on ebay.  I bought some last year with 0/6 fertile and was promised replacements which never arrived.  I eventually got a refund but it took some months.  Something else I have noticed is if the seller has a female name eg Daisy its not always a woman your dealing with I have come across this a couple of times recently I am not sure why they use female names when they are blatently male. :roll:

I'm sure that my daughter recently told me that E Bay have changed the feedback rules, so that its not possible to leave negative comments anymore.

They have changed the rules but I think it is only for sellers not buyers I am not sure I will have to go and check it out.

It is only for sellers the negative feedback thing.
I like looking at the hatching eggs on ebay to look at the pictures and different breeds!! I'm fairly sad but it is great work avoidance!

If they are sent by Royal Mail - pay for special delivery - it's worth it.  Ordinary packet post may result in scrambling - from one who knows - nuff said.
