Yesterday we had 11 hens delivered to take up residence in the newly restored henhouse. It is all totally mink proof now with every crevice and tunnel in the old walls pointed and repaired and the two open sides covered with weld mesh.
Lovely to hear the rosey and busyness this morning ..... even had four eggs! :D
These girls are from a free range farm which was clearing out for re-stocking. I think they are only about 12 months old; they will grow some more feathers and carry on laying for a few years yet.

Lucky chuckies, they do look settled. If you ever decide to do B & B Thrift let me know as you really know how to look after your guests. :D

they look happy to be there Thrift, and I must say they look like they have come from a caring farmer :)

Some are ok joyfull but the remainder are really tatty with completely bald necks. I can't wait to see them all fully feathered.
Total of 8 eggs on their first day, so very good girls. They were the lucky ones, the rest went to the factory. Apparently they end up as burgers or nuggets ...... amazing as they are so skinny, no meat at all!
