Title: Tesco fruit trees
Post by: GraciesGran on January 30, 2020, 16:24
Anyone any experience with these?  They were£6 each or 2 for £10.  Son bought 4 Apple's and 2 Victoria plums.  Got soaked helping to plant them so I hope it was worth it!

No experience with these as such, but I am always nervous of supermarket fruit trees as I would not trust them to be on a rootstock of the size I wanted

Oops, didn't think of that.  They are planted and staked.  It's raining gently so we'll see how they go.

I brought 4 last year and ended up putting them in large tubs as my garden wasn’t ready for them. All 4 did well however I realised this winter that perhaps I should have pruned a lot of the branches to an outward facing bud when I got them as all the branches are too upright for the goblet shape. I’m going to try to weigh them down instead now,
