Tomatoes galore but....

Hi all,
This is the first year I have grown anything apart from my hair and nails   I have got dozens of tomatoes, however very few are ripening.  Some are outdoors and some in a greenhouse.  Any suggestions for helping them along would be greatfully appreciated

Thank you, stupid question I know but should I harvest them and lay them on the skins?
