at what stage could i use grass cutting on my plot?

can i dig it in the soil? was also thinking of using it to earth up spuds

As long as you don't pile it all on at once, you can use it fresh. Too deep and it does give out some heat! You could layer it out on the ground for a couple of days and then use it to earth up your spuds. Dig it in your soil fresh or dry if you have any excess.

As goosegirl says, you can dig it in fresh. If you want to mulch potatoes with it, best to let it dry a few days so it doesn't turn into a big slime hill on you or start composting on its own. I usually let mine dry a few days then pile it into a mound for later use in whatever I need.
