Ukadex anti-peck spray - has anybody tried it.
« on: September 27, 2009, 18:19 »
Ukadex is supposed to smell so vile :tongue2:, no chickens will go anywhere near the pecked chicken.  Is it fair to spray her, if it's so foul, as she can't get away from herself?
Am I worrying too much?
(I've just used my first ever smiley, it just seemed appropriate).

The good points about UKADEX are IMHO, that yes, the chooks won't get near the chicken that has been sprayed so she gets a bit of peace and quiet and time to heal.

The bad points are!!!!

It stinks horribly, says its main ingredient is huile animale, which sounds like oil of animal, more like pig poop to me!!!
it's brown and the stain lasts forever, or until they moult possibly,
if you get it on your clothes or hands, its a b***er to remove
and if you spray turkeys with it, they still try to kill each other!!

Other than that, its fine!!!!!    :D

The first time I used it on a load of Amberlinks that had been pecking each other.  they smelt so bad, that when I went in their shed the next morning, they were all standing apart from each other!!!!   :D :D
