piddling on the compost ?
« on: September 09, 2006, 19:22 »
Well a mate of mine told me a few months back that piddling in my compost bin will help it break down and add much needed nutrients.

Since then I have been taking opportunities as they arise of course but it just dawned on me tonight that he might have been winding me up??????

Good beer, good BBQ and good friends.

... that really did make me laugh out loud ... not because you're mate's been winding you up, because he hasn't ... but I loved the note of panic in your *voice* ... brilliant!

Keep piddling any chance you get honey, you are helping, I promise.

John does it in a bottle in the shed then transfers it to the heap because he's a little too long in the tooth to be arrested for exposing himself!

It adds nitrogen which speeds up the decomposition process (he says sounding like a scientist!)

I did read somewhere that it only works with bloke wee - apparently the oestrogen in girls' wee doesn't work so well.  Shame, really, I've been keeping a bucket in my shed for just that purpose

Since the benefit is from the nitrogen, I very much doubt that's the case.  I'm sure lady wee is just as good as man wee, and it's probably illegal to suggest otherwise :)

This method sure sounds 'Scientific', but who gets to use the shed first?   And does the bucket / bottle get sanitized between uses?
