Where do you keep your thermometer
« on: April 11, 2012, 19:55 »
I have a min / max greenhouse thermometer, I would like to hang it in the greenhouse so I can see the temperature at a glance. But I think it must be affected by direct sunlight even though the panels are polycarbonate and not glass.

Today and yesterday the max temperature got to 35 and I can't imagine it got that high as its not been very warm outside the last couple of days and the window vent has been opening at 20c so that works ok.

I have reset the thermometer tonight and I have put it on the lower shelf on the staging so it should be in the shade and I will see what it reads tomorrow.

Where do you keep your thermometer and do you do anything to stop it getting direct sunlight. Shame to have to hide it away as I like to be able to see it at a glance.

"Your first job is to prepare the soil.  The best tool for this is your neighbor's motorized garden tiller.  If your neighbor does not own a garden tiller, suggest that he buy one."

Same as Mum. You'd be surprised how hot it can get in the greenhouse on even a cool day outside.

Err, I have two at each end and take the mean. That is not to say that is the correct way to do it though.
The greenhouse is is full sun mainly through out the day on the plot.
