how difficult can it be?

while digging on our plot i unearthed a sledgehammer head,which after good going over we a wire brush is ok,but how difficult is it to get a shaft for it numerous builders merchants on the wirral  have none, of  the big chain diy centres they got none although been waiting for a call back from the gentleman at b+q who went 2hrs ago to have a look if they had any in store!!!! :wacko:

Might be quicker to drop the hammer head over a sapling and wait for it to grow ! :)

Have you tried a garden centre?

You can buy shafts of all kinds in the tool section of a garden centre here in France (unfortunately I have no experience in the UK)
