MTD Rotavator
« on: March 27, 2020, 14:09 »
Hi
I beleive we have an MTD T245 rotavator over the plot. The engine runs but the tines dont turn. I suspect a broken belt. Doe anyone have a manual as looks a big job to remove the engine. maybe there is an easier way.

I have a MTD 450 PRO and it is very easy to change the drive belt. I don't know if the 245 is the same but just remove the belt cover and have a look to see if the belt is broken... getting another at the moment is your problem :(

Thanks all. It looks a right pain to check/change the belt on this model as seems that the engine has to lift off with the belt cover. Its only a few bolts but looks very heavy. Ive managed to find some operator manuals which I have attached as may be useful for others but no maintenance manual seems available. Our communal tools over the plot are all locked away now during the present nightmare so wont be able to have a better look for a while. Ive just had a Qualcast rotavator apart and although that had an inspection hatch, to remove the belt still involved lifting off the engine. They dont make it easy!

Thanks. Its a shame you cant take a peek at the belt somehow as I suspect its broken. Nothing I can do now for a bit as everything locked away. To be fair its doesnt look that big a deal to remove but looks heavy.
