strange beak?
« on: November 06, 2010, 16:00 »
Hi all
i have just noticed that Flo's beak doesn't meet at the end and looks a bit twisted.  Is this normal?  the other three look fine, but Flo's beak has a gap at the end where it doesn't meet.  Will she be able to eat ok or do I need to get it filed or something?  Should I be worried about this or am I over reacting like a new parent does???
Any advice is very welcome.
Thanks

Often beaks are not a perfect 'meet' so don't worry. She has survived up till now! If you are concerned watch her for a while (great excuse not to do the washing up) and see if she is eating OK. Only once in a :)ll the years have I had to get a pair of nail clippers to a hens beak but that was because she was a grand old lady and it had over grown too much. Hope that helps.

Thank you OL, I did hope that would be the case!  As you've said, I have spent the day cleaning their run and sitting chatting to them! What a lovely way to spend a sunny day - cold though!!  I even had a neighbour round who was impressed with my ladies!  :D  He has three of his own girls and thought mine were v pretty  :D :D of course!  I feel that i am in danger of becoming very single minded though as I have a one track mind on chickens at the minute!!
Thanks for your help OL
 :)
