[Hampshire Hog]

Hi all some of my sweetcorn seedlings are developing black areas and dying back.   Has anyone else ever experienced this?

I had chitted as per John's advice and then potted on into root trainers in an unheated conservatory but I am confident it hasn't been frosted. I was a bit cautious as when I had chitted them they appeared to have a cotton wool appearance round some of the seeds.  :shock:

Do you think they will survive or should I scrap them and start again??!!

sounds like a fungus of some sort try spraing befor you give up

Never had anything on them, thank god, also never chitted them, so I can't help with possibly already fungal growth on the chits much, any photo of the now affected plants?

The fuzzy stuff is definitely fungus, probably damping off fungus. Comes from damp and cool seeds. Try direct seeding them and it should be fine.
