I'm amazed at some of the precision that goes on here.

I admit I weigh the water - but only because I've mislaid the little measuring jug that came with the machine, but I don't bother within a few ml or so.

My machine calls for wet first, I do that, but after the flour the rest of the ingredients go in in any order. It's made diddly squat difference to the end result.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I know you were after bread recipes Peapod, but this is a really nice easy one that will hopefully boost your confidence.  I worked in a nursery that had a small cafe and we used to make this every day.  It's very simple and quick, but tastes lovely  :D

Mixed fruit teabread

150g mixed fruit of your choice
75g soft light brown sugar
150ml orange juice
1 egg lightly beaten
65g plain white flour
65g plain wholemeal flour
1sp baking powder
1/4 tsp each ground cinnamon and nutmeg, but swap these for other spices if you want

Put the fruit, sugar and juice in a bowl and leave in the fridge for 8 hours or overnight,
Remove the mixing blade from the bread machine pan and grease the pan with butter. A bit of greaseproof paper in the base is also a good idea.
Add all the other ingredients to the fruit mix and stir together.
Spoon into the pan and set the machine to bake for 40-45 mins - test it after 40 - should be well risen and firm to the touch.
Take the pan out of the machine, then remove the loaf from the pan after 5 mins and cool on a wire rack.

New shoot that sounds lovely, I can make that with Harry.

Thanks everyone.  I'm getting cracking shortly  :)
