Can anyone ID this climber please ?

Found it growing next to a clematis which we cut back last year. It's got lots of very sharp spines and seems to be quite vigorous. Hope you can see it amongst the jungle.



I've gone through our books and t'internet but can't find a match. Any clues at all would be appreciated. :)

looks like a bramble to me as well
I would get it dug up or poisoned as they spread quickly

Bramble doesn't normally have those cut vine-like leaves does it ?

More rounded from looking at the other 10,000 in the garden !!!  :evil:

Funnily enough I noticed that a cultivated thornless blackberry has leaves like this, odd but definately a trait that's been bred in from an parent plant?

I would have said a cultivated blackberry. Look after it well....it might be a Loch Ness variety.....yummy!!!!! ;)

Righto. Thanks for the IDs.

I was going to hack it back or dig it up but It shall LIVE !!!!!  :)

We are a bit overrun by brambles so I won't have to save any of the others now. They are deffo for the rotting heap.

Just found this.....sounds deeeeelicious.

Could do with moving it really. It's at the base of a laurel with nowt to climb up.
