My list of jams is getting looooonger..
« on: August 04, 2010, 08:58 »
I have now made:

Strawberry jam
Raspberry jam
Strawberry and raspberry jam
Blueberry jam
Apricot jam
Rhubarb and ginger jam
Mango jam (yuk... I don't know if I'll be able to give it away!)

Raspberry jelly
Blueberry jelly
Blackcurrant jelly
Redcurrant jelly
Summer fruit jelly
Red fruit jelly
Redcurrant and cherry jelly

The only one I had a problem with was the Summer fruit jelly... I had to reboil with extra sugar to get it to set, but i think it was because I used frozen fruit, not fresh.

I'm now waiting impatiently for my mirabelles and quetch to ripen :)

Christmas should be fairly easy this year lol!

Funnily enough I'm more enthusiastic about my currant bushes again lol.  though I wont get any fruit next year as I'm renovating all the canes, and I'll be taking out all of the currently fruiting wood... but i should have good harvests from the year after :D

When are you going to eat your lovely jam? I love making jam - but we arent very good at eating it.   Jellies to go with meat disappear (rosemary, mint, spiced), but we dont eat breakfast or just muesli on the run, lunch is a packed sandwich and fruit/ veg sticks, no tea then dinner in the evening.

I would love a reason to make more ....

Actually I hardly ever eat jam either  :tongue2:

I'll probably give most of it away (Since I have about 70 jars of the stuff!)

I do have sample pots in the fridge, and I have to say that it is very nice (much nicer than shop jam), but when i have about one slice of jam and bread a week it is going to last a loooong time lol.

Maybe in the winter I'll eat a bit more with porridge...
