I recently read a suggested LAZY way of breaking new weedy ground for planting without much effort.....

strim down growth
Cover with cardboard
Add compost and soil on top for delicate plants
plant spuds through cardboard into ground

Any one tried this?  My soil is clay but it was ploughed by tractor last year so probably quite airy.

Or should I stop being lazy and cultivate it properly!!!!

Yes.  I have posted along these lines several times.  It works better for some veg than others.

I'd recommend for tatties, cucurbits and BIG cabbages.

thanks WG.  i might experiment about a bit, some tatties in cultivated and some in this lazy uncultivated ground.  If I cant get it all processed in time, I will raise seedlings in doors and plant through card.  I have a one year old and a two year old so it's hard to get the time outside, I can get more done inside like seedlings etc.
