is this good to spread on the plot  as i cut the grass i empty the box on the veggy patch

It's good for this time of year on any bare ground.
In the growing season you can do the same, as long as you don't spread a thick layer around any plant stems

If they are your own grass cutting they are great to use, but beware if from a golf course or bowling green as these could well have been treated with chemicals.

Do be careful if you have used a specific grass fertiliser as many of them include selective weed killers which will give problems later. Check the pack if in any doubt.

I'm fortunate in having a lot of grass which I'm using to mulch around fruit bushes etc. I've also used them to mulch potatoes successfully.
