Autumn is the absolute best IMHO because the soil is still warm enough for the roots to settle in before winter.

After that, spring once everything has thawed out but not absolutely sodden, and before the leaves start to grow.

Others may of course think differently, just that's what I've always done with any trees of shrubs.

Some of those offers look very good value  :) :)

It depends on what`s being offered. Mostly they will offer you plants at a discount, but then you have to pay through the nose for the pollinaters.

David's right in that you have to read  offers carefully but TBH I've not found them to be a rip off so far  :)

If they come bare rooted you might have a problem at the moment. Up here the ground is frozen so hard you can't put a spade into it and likely to remain so for at least another week. If you can get the roots into a pot of compost and keep them somewhere frost free you should be ok but you can't put them into their permanent positions till the ground is frost free and not waterlogged.

Pollinators means that many fruit trees are not self -fertile and will need another type nearby for successful pollination and thus a good crop of fruit.

Some fruit trees are not self fertile, so you need to ensure there is another tree that flowers at the same time in the vicinity. If you look on a website like Ken Muir (ruit growers) this will become clearer.

At £30 quid a plant, I`d leave them alone. Go and check out your local garden centre.
