Title: little weed
Post by: rookie1 on May 06, 2012, 10:35
Hi everyone - have had a day free of rain; first in over two weeks, so keen to get on my plot today and do some sowing. My question is having spent weeks clearing nettles and perennial weeds out, my veg plot was looking great, but is beginning to be covered in what looks like a mist of small weeds (at least I assume they're weeds) - a bt like cress. So far it has two small leaves above ground, and bright white stems under the surface. Looks like it could take easily take over the plot.

see pic of one of the little blighters.

Will I be able to get rid with a 'hoe down' or have to resort to other measures?

anyone know what it is?

I can't tell from that pic as it's too small to pick up any detail.    Hoe should be ok with weeds of that size

Your plot will contain many different weeds, it's an inevitability, so don't worry. Just get on with the hoe and swish them away  :)

Not from the pic, but could be speedwell or chickweed. Hoe it in before it sets seed.

they say 1 years seeding 7 years weeding. just hoe them in.
