lice on broody
« on: May 14, 2011, 15:36 »
hi,
ive got a hen that has just gone broody over the last few days, and ive put some eggs under her and she is sat happy, the trouble is ive just noticed a lice on her! Should i powder her or use spot on, i dont want to disturb her but im concerned about the chicks when they are born, is it safe to treat her now?

broodies are prone to lice, so I would just give her a quick squirt of frontline between her shoulder blades (part the feathers). Frontline can legally be obtained from your vet but you may have to sign for it like I do as it isn't licensed for poultry.
Staffies are softer than you think.

Yes you can but if you tell them its for chickens they may make you sign for it, or you could just say its for your kittens ??? ;)
