Sweetcorn and wine ??
« on: August 31, 2009, 12:02 »
While chopping up sweetcorn stumps for compost, I tried tasting the stalk: its almost as sweet as the corn  :tongue2: (nice and crunchy, too).
Q: Has anyone tried making wine from the stalks?  Would it be the right sort of sugar?

Would be a waste to compost it all if possible.

I think you can make wine from ANYTHING that contains some form of carbohydrate.
eg. rice.

so there's no reason that sweetcorn stalksshouldn't work. Whether it would taste like gnat's urine is another matter  :D
