Just had this delivered - Do you think it is ready to use? or should it rot down further before use.  Any comments please.

what had you planned to use it for. It's not rotted as you can see all that straw in it but I believe it's ok for earthing up spuds with

I use fresh muck for growing all sorts of veggies in but I've been castigated on here that I'm playing with fire as there's a risk of salmonella

It does rot down very quickly in those black dalek compost bins  :)  Even leaving it a few weeks on the plot would help it rot down a bit further if it's too wet and smelly. Cover it with a Wickes tarp or old carpet

Planned to use it in my main crop spud bed - may be not a good idea re DD - new to this manure stuff so not sure what it should look like when fully composted.

Looks quite fresh, however you can pile it up and grow pumkins etc in it, just dig a hole fill with soil / compost and plant it will work a treat. In the autumn spread it on the plot were you want it.

I would say it looks very fresh. My advice (for what it's worth) is stack it into a heap, water it and cover it with plastic sheet. Then come back to use it next year when it looks like crumbly brown compost.
There's more comfrey here than you can shake a stick at!

Mix it in with your compost heap, it will be lovely next year.

Needs to be moist and crumbly, lovely stuff.  Like crumbled Christmas pudding.  Anything too 'fresh' can scorch.

As someone who has a horse and an allotment I would say the manure is straight out of the stable in which case it really needs a 12 month to rot down the straw content apart from anything else.
