i sowed some about 6 weeks ago, planted out a couple of weeks ago.

don't know if this right, i was thinking they should produce enough root this year to hopefully become strong enough plants for next year. but this was just a stab in the dark to be honest.

I'm sure they will do fine but be careful, it will self seed and take over.

If you can, root cuttings of Bocking 14 are they way forward, it should stay put and not spread

Although be very sure it's where you want it - I've found out it comes back from the smallest root left in the soil. On the plus side, that means you have more plants eventually!  :D

i did discuss this matter with premier seeds, when i asked if they done the non seeding variety cuttings/ plants. they said "We have never had a problem with comfrey.  We simply cut the flower heads off when they have finished prior to the seed pods ripening."

i have planted them somewhere out of the way and away from the veg patch as i am a little worried about the roots spreading.

Get some of the bocking root cuttings, mine are planted in the shade at the side of the allotment they grow there no problem.
You can buy root cuttings off ebay for about a fiver i wouldnt mess about with the seeds myself. You can take them yourself once the plant is established its a piece of cake to do.
