Thanks Yorkie.  '25' my '30' lol.  am ashamed to put 9 Earlibird out in a block now you lot of pros  :wub:
Have only just chitted and planted on 12 mini pop.  Will give it a go then, but as it's so late we'll just have to see. 

I do remember picking courgettes in Nov last year....maybe summer has shifted  :D

I'm sure the mini pop will be fine - remember that you want immature cobs so it's not as though you need to wait until they are pollinated and grow into cobs  ;)

planted mine out today and put 2 ltr bottles with the top and bottom cut off around them to help protect them while they settle in  :)

Hiya,

Does anyone have some advice on whether or not it's too soon to plant out sweetcorn in South Yorkshire?

Well North Lincs is not far from South Yorks and mine have been out for about three weeks now, started in the greenhouse and planted out between 4" and 6"tall. They were reluctant to get a move on in the cold but are now getting bigger, slowly, every day. I say slowly because a farmer next door sowed a field of corn about three weeks ago and his have shot up and will soon be as big as mine. Funny how plants seem to catch up with others over a lengthy growing period. I dare say he will be harvesting his at the same time I am picking mine.
