Ring up a couple of local tree surgeons, they have to pay to dispose of wood chippings these days at most council tips (Newcastle charge something like £50 per ton, which they compost and sell back as soil conditioner) so if you and a couple of other plot holders can club togethet to take a load a TS may be willing to deposit a tipper trucks worth of chippings for you to divvy out between you
