Hi everyone please can you tell me which carrots are best and what to grow them in?
Last year we tried broadcasting Nantes on a shallow trough and grew them up high so that the flies didnt get them but to be honest I couldnt be bothered to peel them as they were too small and couldnt just wash them before cooking as they had hairs all over them.

Although they are a show variety, sweet candle are easy to grow to a very good size, nice and uniform so easy to peel, and as the name suggests, they are very sweet.

Possibly the broadcasting was a bit thick, so maybe spread the seed around a bit more sparsely could do the trick! Absolutely right to raise them above carrot fly height too!

We don't really care what they look like, as long as they're OK to at least shave with a spud-basher, or maybe just wash them and chuck them in a pan and think of England..;0)

Lucky you, I'm always envious of anyone from Cornwall!
